“Ayurveda” meaning the knowledge of life comprises of two Sanskrit words viz-“Ayu”- means life and “Veda”- means knowledge of science. The earliest concepts of medical science are found in the ancient wisdom called ‘Veda’ which are believe to be composed between 5000-1000 B.C. Ayurveda, the science of life is one of the ancient and comprehensive systems of health care. According to Indian Philosophy, health is pre requisite to pursue materialistic, social and spiritual upliftment of human being. Good health is a basic pre requisite to acquire materialistic, social and spiritual upliftment of individual. Therefore Ayurveda lays great emphasis on prevention of disease and promotion of health. The credible therapeutic modalities of Ayurveda include bio-Purification therapy called Panchakarma, minimal invasive Para surgical measure of management of fistula-in-ano and piles by Ksharasutra, specialized health care called Rasayana and management of Gynecological disorder by herbominaral compound proven to have an edge over conventional medical approach in dealing with chronic and refractory disease condition.
